Menelaus Holding Patroclus Bronze Statue. A fabulous polished bronze statue depicting King Menelaus holding the dead body of Patroclus. The Trojan war was caused by Paris, the son of King Priam of Troy who abducted Helen, the wife of Menelaus. Achilles allowed his friend Patroclus to wear his armour into battle to rally the greeks but sadly he was killed by Hector. This statue shows Menelaus holding the dead body of Patroclus awaiting the arrival of Achilles. A poignant and very moving sculpture and would be a superb gift for anyone with an interest in Greek mythology or a collector of bronze statues. Measures 31cm/12.5 inches tall by 13cm/5 inches wide, made from cold bronze resin which has been thermal plated with a thin skin or real bronze to acheive a superb patina. Our sculptures make superb Birthday gifts, retirement gift ideas and leaving presents or are also suitable as corporate gifts. |
