Harriet Glen was born in Australia and it was there where her passion for animals and wildlife flourished. From a very young age she began drawing the animals she saw around her and by the age of nine she was already making clay models of horses, which she entreprisingly sold on, and used the moner raised to buy her first pony! Harriet spent a few years in New Zealand where she was either in school, asleep or riding her horse such was her love or equestrian life. She attended art school in New South Wales and later went on to teach Art & Sculpture in Sydney. Harrielt Glen was also keen Jockey and rode for legendary Australian horseracing trainer Tommy Smith. In 1978 and 79 Harriet won the New South Wales Australian Ladies Jockey championship and in doing so won a prize of a trip to England. Harriet Glen now lives in the beautiful Dorset countryside with her husband and son where her design studio is based . In the words of Harriet Glen "I try to convey more than just the physical aspect of the animals. Sculpture, being three dimensional , should incorporate the spiritual nature of the horse: how it feels when it's jumping , playing, shying, racing, at rest, the fear, the sense of urgency, the will to race. These are the qualities that endear the horse to the human." The bronze sculptures of Harriet Glen are internationally recognised in prestigous collections throughout Europe, Scandinavia, Japan, Hong Kong, The Middle East, Australia and the United States.
